Viewer Question: What cable to use to hook up HTPC to HDTV?

Posted by admin On February - 18 - 2010

Our Viewer Question is from Mark of City of Industry, CA: I just built a HTPC with a core 2 duo 2.66 ghz, PQI 2 GB of RAM and a Nvidia EVGA 8800gts. I have a Sony Bravia KDL32M3000. Anyhow, I want to hook up my HTPC to the TV What kinda cable would I need to do this? I am also getting a Blu-Ray dvd drive for my pc. Will my specs play high def dvds at full frame without any lag? Mark, Jason Cross has got you covered. Your specs are excellent to handle Blu-Ray. As for the cable, get a DVI to HDMI cable or a DVI to HDMI adapter. But, you will need seperate cables for audio.

Cable versus the cable less options:

Posted by admin On January - 6 - 2010

What it takes to have the power onto your geezer! What it takes to connect the CPU to your monitor! Yes it the cable. Cable is the physical connectivity medium. Till date nearly all the electronic and electrical equipments are designed and made with cables. Even the smallest of smallest calculator comes with micro cables or wires inside. Even a bluetooth mouse which seems to be wireless, has many cable linings and stripes internally. But with the introduction of new age cable less technologies like Bluetooth, Infrared and Wi-Fi hotspot software, the cable is fading away. It is firstly moving away from the scene of data connectivity. Like most of USB cables are now replaced by Bluetooth USB. And soon there would be a time when nearly all the cables from the world would simply disappear. But is it possible? Well, the answer swings across two questions firstly, whether would it be possible to transfer electricity without cable? Secondly, would it be safer to have cable less options for all electrical as well as electronic equipments? The answer to the first question lies somehow in some magnetic activities related to the flow of current used in bullet train rails. But these types of transmission or transfer would be possible for a very small range arrangement. This would not be possible and also not safe in case of longer distances. Eliminating electrical part, cable less dream is possible only in case of electronic items. Electronic gadgets can be equipped with modern cable less options like Hotspot software Wi-Fi technology, Bluetooth and Infrared. You can see the bombardment of Bluetooth as well as infrared enabled cell phones as a very common thing among the all mobile markets across the world. All the laptops, leaptops, handheld PDAs are equipped with Bluetooth, infrared and Wi-Fi hotspot software supporting options. So, cables are fading away from the gadget market.

If you are travelling with your laptop or PDA then it is the time when you mostly would avoid the cabled options. You would not like to connect to a LAN cable to access the internet. Here Wi-Fi hotspot software is a most welcomed thought. Earlier there were only cables used to network computers together. Hardware like routers, switches, hubs, etc. are the equipments required to connect with cables. But the introduction of hotspot software providing wireless LAN connectivity revolutionized this concept of connecting with other computers or networks without cables. So, cables are being replaced gradually by upcoming cable less options. The current scenario portraits the cable less connectivity option only in restaurants and in personal dimension. But the cable less connectivity options Bluetooth, infrared and Wi-Fi hotspot software are also growing in use in business organizations. Companies are also opting for this option step by step and so eliminating cables. Though these cable less options hotspot software are making life simpler yet it is a costly affair than the cables.

So, whatever the purpose is! You can reckon the cable less way. Cables are being dominated by cable less hotspot software supported Wi-Fi and other similar options.
